The Other Gender is an initiative by the Y3DG to campaign and join the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV), gender inequality and unhealthy patriarchy across Africa.

“The Other Gender” is an initiative by the Young, Dynamic, Determined and Daring Generation (The Y3DG) to campaign and join the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV), gender inequality and unhealthy patriarchy across Africa.

Every day, thousands of GBV cases are reported continentally and a lot more cases go unreported. Opportunities for men and women continue to be unequal and unhealthy patriarchal relationships continue to dominate our societies.  We cannot allow this to continue any longer. These vices are continually increasing in our continent and we urgently need to stop the cycle and alienate this trend. As the Y3DG, we believe that we can only end this when we all wake up to the reality, take responsibility and be accountable for each other because GBV is not gender exclusive. We must all look out for each other, be our brother’s keeper and our sister’s hero – Protect “THE OTHER GENDER!”

We have seen time and time again that competence has no gender and with equal opportunities and a level playing field, anyone can truly succeed. Therefore we call on everyone to gird up their loins and put on their hats of equity, justice and fairness. Say no gender inequality. Collaboration is how we will succeed – Trust “THE OTHER GENDER!”

Where do we draw the line? When we choose to think with our brains and not our sex organs, process the thoughts in our minds and to act with love and compassion rather than to let our sex organs to be our decision makers, we will love more, laugh more, live more and understand each other more. Do not demand it, earn it – love “THE OTHER GENDER!”

When we choose to think with our brains, process it in our hearts and apply our minds to it rather than to base our reasoning on the our reproductive organs, we will love more, laugh more, live more and understand each other more. Do not demand it, earn it – love “THE OTHER GENDER!”.
